Photography: History, Art, Technique is another book by Tom Ang. This resource is great for someone who wants to get information covering many facets of photography: information on influential photographers, the history of photography, tools and elements of photography and technical advice for taking pictures, editing and going past photography as a hobby. This is a pretty wordy and technical guide that someone learning in college and or as an adult could utilize to further their photography knowledge. It was first published as Eyewitness Companions Photography in 2005 and republished in 2019. I would qualify this book as a guide. The guide includes a table of contents broken up into 7 sections: gallery of photographers, the story of photography, photographic tools, elements of photography, taking successful photographs, working with digital images and taking photography further. The influential photographers is in alphabetical order by last name and includes birthdate, death date, what they were known for, career highlights, their impact on the photography community and at least one example of their work. The story of photography section describes the changes in technology and processes in chronological order beginning in 1820-1990s. They include sidebars of notable photographers of the time and examples of works or processes they are describing. There is also a glossary, index and acknowledgments in the back of the book. Due to the very technical language in this I would say this book would be a mature resource; college age and up.
