Instant: the story of Polaroid by Christopher Bonanos is a great resource for rise and fall of the Polaroid camera. It includes how the Polaroid came to be, examples of photographers that utilized the Polaroid and the eventual bankruptcy of the Polaroid company (but not the end of the Polaroid concept!). The history of the Polaroid is a large part of the history within the developing processes. This resource was written by Christopher Bonanos and edited by Dan Simon. It was published in 2012 and from my research has not been republished or updated. It is organized into 9 chapters and in the back includes a bibliography, acknowledgements, image credits and an index. The chapters are pretty vague so it isn’t super easy to navigate. You have to skim the pages to see if that chapter includes the information you are looking for. This resource is almost a biography of the company and the format of the Polaroid that lived on past the company’s bankruptcy. Throughout the chapters are pictures of equipment and works that came from the Polaroid. This is a very wordy resource so this would be for a young adult and up who wanted to learn more about the history of the Polaroid and or the different film formats that exist in photography. I found this resource when doing a search for history of photography in my public library’s catalog.
